Alpine has consistently been one of the biggest names in the car audio world for the past few decades. It has garnered a reputation of producing some of the highest quality audio systems in the market. The new F#1 Status Gen III system is Alpine's no holds barred attempt at a flagship car audio system which is reflected in its price, costing more than a brand-new Mahindra XUV700 and coming in at a whopping Rs 30 lakh! Alpine also launched a slightly lower spec model called the Status which costs a third of the F#1 Status and will set you back around Rs 8 lakh.

Essentially, the F#1 Status Gen III is Alpine's flagship automotive audio system that doesn't cut any corners to achieve its goal of delivering the best sound quality it possibly can. This is reflected in its price tag as well, though for the money, you get plenty of kit ranging from speakers to a dedicated audio processor.

The Alpine F#1 Status Gen III comes as a full set with a retro styled single DIN head-unit, a high-end quad core audio processor clocked at 1 GHz that can offer Hi-res audio playback at 384 kHz/32-bits (the same resolution signal as that used in recording studios), an amplifier, a sub-woofer, a host of carbon fibre re-enforced plastic speakers and tweeters, as well a portable digital audio player.

The audio processor uses a Master Clock Management System which comprises of two crystal oscillators that regulate the master clock in order to keep the High-Resolution audio output and playback in perfect synchronisation.

It should be noted that this system comes as a complete package, and there is no scope for prospective buyers to mix and match components to suit their needs. The F#1 Status can't even be linked up to any OEM or third-party head-units.

While it is the cheaper of the two products, the Alpine Status still costs more than some hatchbacks. However, it also offers more flexibility than the flagship F#1 Status, as the Status gives users the ability to pair it with any OEM or aftermarket head-units, including Alpine's new 7-, 9- and 11-inch offerings that can output Hi-res audio and support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Status also comes with the same high-end speakers and tweeters, though uses a lower grade amplifier and a simpler crystal oscillator clock generator system for audio processing.
