CE PRO'S FEATURED TOPIC: > CEDIA
“I haven’t been to CEDIA Expo in several years due to work, the pandemic, etc. -- so why do I need to go this year?”
Register today for the premier event for home tech pros. September 29 – October 1, Dallas, TX.
dARTS Theater, a Florida-based manufacturer of digital audio theater speakers and subwoofers, has announced the introduction of its 5000 series of active loudspeakers and the DCB410-SUB floor to ceiling bass array powered by the rack-mountable 350-watt mono block subwoofer amplifier.
The U.S.-made loudspeakers and subwoofers are now available, and the MSE Audio brand states that it will demo its latest products at CEDIA Expo 2022 in room SR-3 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
“The 5000 Series is the most extensive update we’ve ever done to the dARTS line. With predictable precision, dARTS speakers ensure true sound perfection regardless of the room’s acoustic,” says Ken Hecht, vice president, MSE Audio.
“The DCB410-SUB line array experience is like nothing most home theater listeners have ever felt or heard; the linear wavefront impacts your body in a way that makes you feel the bass as much as you hear it. When used as a double-bass array, room modes can be actively reduced giving more even coverage in the listening area.”
The dARTS 5000 series speakers utilize a new cabinet shape that includes a lightly textured matte-gloss black finish. Internally, the products employ new ribbon tweeters that enable the dARTS speakers to play up to 40 kHz. The 5000 series will output up to 124 dB SPL (sound pressure level) for loud, clear sound in larger spaces.
dARTS active speakers also incorporate DSP-based crossovers, as well as equalization and time correction prior to amplification. All the woofers and tweeters are directly coupled to an amp channel, which the company boasts, leaves nothing in the audio path to degrade the signal, according to the company.
Each speaker driver in the system is custom tuned to match within 0.5 dB of each other, and every dARTS system is calibrated and aligned to a reference performance level. Once installed and calibrated, dARTS stresses that a homeowner’s room will sound as good as a commercial theater or post-production Hollywood listening environment.
MSE Audio points out, the nearly eight-foot tall, 280 lb. DCB410 trapezoidal-shaped subwoofer is specifically designed for corner placements and it includes a linear array of eight 10-inch active woofers. According to dARTS, the cone area is equivalent to a 28-inch woofer, and the company says the DCB410-SUB provides tight uncolored bass. The anechoic frequency response of the subwoofer is rated down to 16 Hz with a maximum SPL at 1 meter of 122 dB.
dARTS also notes the subwoofer can be used in front corners as a linear line array, or it can be installed in all four corners as an active double base line array where the rear corner subs help reduce unwanted room modes.
Each subwoofer system comes with a high-current mono-block amplifier that drives the DCB410-SUB. Each 1-RU amplifier is rated to output 350- watts RMS with peak capability of 700 watts.
