jrharbort, 18 hours agoSo you'd rather Apple keep letting users message non-iPhone users with the very antiquate... more If only RCS was that simple. I'm definitely all for replacing the aging SMS and slowly implemented MMS, but until Google can get the carriers to play ball to using a single standard implementation AND allow 3rd party apps to use RCS in Android, I don't think Apple will want to join the sh!tshow state it's currently in just to fix what Google can't.
Anonymous, 12 hours agoSo what happens when an iPhone sends an sms? U kno to any android phone on the planet. Not eve... more I'm not explaining the case of RCS again. You're just blindly throwing whatever you can think of just to put blame on Apple to not trample on your Google overlord that don't care about you.
SShock, 14 hours agoSo, you're b!tching over Apple's lack of headphone jack and wilfully ignoring 99% of... more I'm willfully ignoring 95% of other flagship phones (5% is Asus, Sony and others) because the majority of known Android phone makers follows Apple as their gold standard unfortunately. If Apple removes the jack, the rest follows. So, if Apple brings back the jack, the rest follows. If Apple brings back FM Radio on top of adding Satellite Radio (Sirius XM), everyone follows so that's the magic of Apple but the owners are not so good for us, people. Anyways, Apple would be that dumb to not follow a world standard. RCS and USB-C is king. Speaking of USB-C, if they can't increase the spec of Lightning then USB-C will. Flagship phones can do USB 3 and 4 while Apple only does USB 2 and people nowadays like to go fast.
This are the kinds of statement that make me wish we had a third OS out there. Something else other than iOS and Android.
Anonymous, 5 hours agoExactly. Tim was blunt in his response, but made it clear that all this RCS crap only matters ... more Maybe it's the other way around, Android dominates globally while Apple only has a portion.

Anonymous, 4 hours ago Actually, he made it clear that he doesn't care about Apple users. He just wants their money. Well, hence apple users have crash notifications and satellite connectivity. What did google give you - ads based on the profile they have on you from your usage of apps and probably your conversations. Thanks for helping google get richer and for advocating their anti-privacy agenda.
Just use SMS, it’s probably more secure than RCS- which google says is end to end encrypted but will be used by ad algorithms just like whatsapp’s end to end encryption. Sure no-one’s reading messages but they pass through ad- algorthims and thats a big no-no So google can cry all they want. There are better alternatives to RCS, just use Element or Session. But iMessage, please let it be what it is - Perfect and free from google’s ad sharks. Thank you Tim.

Like almost everyone else, I have SMS/MMS by default. So RCS which is also the sequel (Sony Xperia 1 IV). I understand Apple's position for imessages but too arrogant. In addition I have to use Facebook Messenger because I have Facebook and it is mandatory to read private messages. That's already 2 systems + E-Mail for long text. I don't want to put WhatsApp for some friends, Line for others etc etc. A true friend will use whatever system you have basic (at worst). So yes the RCS is good (need a bridge with imessages?) Other Solution: There are some Facebook announced compatibility between WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram coming soon. The European community has even forced this (at least for the basics) for 2023. So I hope at least for this compatibility, since Apple is too haughty.
Anonymous, 5 hours agoExactly. Tim was blunt in his response, but made it clear that all this RCS crap only matters ... more Actually, he just stated what was already known for a very long time: Apple is creating these barriers to force users into their ecosystem. They want to eliminate the competition, "convert them" if you will, not coexist with anyone else. At the end of the day Google gets an historic fine, Apple gets a pat in the back -- Euroland at its best.
SShock, 12 hours agoThing is, Apple has great chat experience and they have no real incentive to support 3rd party... more Exactly. Tim was blunt in his response, but made it clear that all this RCS crap only matters to Google and a minority of Android users.

The EU's competition chief is taking a long nap. If it were Google saying this we would already have another record fine, but it's Apple so all is fine in Euroland.
SShock, 14 hours agoLet me get this straight, you're blaming iPhone for game not allowing resolution adjustme... more Where I'm living is a consumer with reasonable expectations. The amount of people that used the headphone jack before it was removed from most flagships contradicts most people not wanting it. While yes the iPhone can play FLAC files, to get a storage trim that would be big enough for me, it would be way too much money, especially since I'd have to buy a 200-300$ DAC to go with it to regain the audio quality my V60 has natively. Not to mention in Canada the 14 pro max which is what I would need to have a comparable camera experience, is ridiculously expensive compared to the 175$ I payed for my V60. Say what you will about android photo quality but it doesn't change the fact that 64MP will always be sharper than 12. I don't know how you figure a 12MP is better than 64MP. Lastly, the media consumption experience would be inferior, since the 14 PM has a slightly shorter aspect ratio screen, where as the V60 is nearly 21*9 with just a small, barely noticeable notch to contend with. Overall, it would just be a ridiculous and useless purchase to someone like me. Also, on LG phones changing game resolution is done through android, not through the game itself. The game doesn't have to be supported to change the resolution.

I'm not a hater but I used both. Android suits me better. Never will switch. Android makes my everyday tasks easier.
