Ally Challenge Set to Tee Off at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc - The Lasco Press

The Ally Challenge Presented by McLaren, announced tee times for the opening round of the PGA Tour Champions event that begins play on Friday, August 25, at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc.

The tournament gets bigger and better every year. (See the Full Schedule at the bottom of the page.) Some highlights of this year’s events.

One of the primary objectives of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren is a genuine, philanthropic vision. To that end, the tournament has established a legacy of giving in southeastern Michigan, including raising more than $4.5 million for charity since 2018.

The Ally Challenge will continue to positively impact the community in Genesee County and beyond by designating net proceeds from the 2022 tournament to benefit the United Way of Genesee County.

The Kids Zone is located in the Faygo Fan Zone next to the famed 17th hole at Warwick Hills and is open Thursday – Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Family Fun Night presented by Charles Stewart Mott Foundation moves to Thursday from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and will once again be held on Hole No. 17 and in the Faygo Fan Zone. Admission and parking are free for this fun-for-the-whole-family event. Parking is located at the Grand Blanc High School, with a complimentary shuttle service provided.

Family Fun Night includes free pizza and drinks for youths 18 years and under, a DJ dance party, Golf Stations, and financial education resources compliments of Ally, including showcasing Ally’s Minecraft world, Fintropolis.

The Faygo Fan Zone The Faygo Fan Zone is located next to the famed 17th hole at Warwick Hills and is open Thursday –Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Patrons visiting the Fan Zone will be treated to a number of available activities, including two new games compliments of the tournament’s title sponsor, Ally Financial. • Ally Foot Golf • Ally Puttskee • Food Trucks and Concessions – Enjoy local food trucks and tournament concessions

Also located in The Fan Zone is the McLaren Bunker Challenge. This fan-favorite activation near Hole #17 offers golf fans of all ages a chance to test their golfing skills as well as learn more about the statewide McLaren system. Fans can try to sink a shot out of a bunker onto a mini green that is screened in for safety. The bunker challenge will be hosted by McLaren volunteers and feature a Michigan PGA professional who can provide advice on the proper technique for executing these difficult shots.

Prizes will be available for golf fans who sink the shot, with a chance to win a larger raffle prize at the end of the tournament. Displays along the waiting area for the bunker shot will highlight various McLaren services, including the new McLarenNow telehealth service, which allows patients to virtually connect with a board-certified physician 24/7, via their phone, laptop, or computer with webcam.

The McLaren Bunker Challenge is open during the hours of the Faygo Fan Zone, August 25-28 from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Miller Lite Beer Garden Check out the Miller Lite Beer Garden, then relax at the available picnic tables and Adirondack chairs while you watch the action on the 17th hole.

The Ally Lounge The Ally Lounge is located greenside on the famed 17the hole and is open to the public. This venue offers fans a prime place to enjoy the action.

Dow VETerans Den U.S. Armed Forces and veteran admission to the tournament includes access to the Dow VETerans DEN located on the 18th green at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club. Guests will enjoy premium golf viewing and complimentary snacks and beverages.

The Dow VETerans DEN is open Thursday (7:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.), Friday (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.), Saturday (9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.), and Sunday (9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), August 26 – 28. The DTE Energy Lawn This venue is located next to the clubhouse and is open to the public with views of the 9th green and the putting green. Enjoy this relaxing destination with access to full concessions.

Mulligan’s Deck A great place to hang out and enjoy food & beverages with No. 17 as the backdrop. Time to sit back, relax and watch some golf! Featuring: White Claw, Crown RTDs, Soaring Eagle activations, Birdie Time is Miller Time, Fans and pros alike can celebrate birdies Friday through Sunday at the famed 17th hole.

Enjoy drink specials, too! Each time a birdie is recorded by a player during the official competition, beer is just $2 for seven minutes, and White Claw is only $4. Even better – the time starts over if another birdie is made!

McLaren Public Bleacher A perfect place to perch player left of the 18th green, all fans are welcome to enjoy the perfect views and watch the action unfold on the closing hole.

The Ally Challenge, McLaren Health Care, and the McLaren Flint Foundation teamed up with the NAGA and the USAGA to put on a clinic featuring trained adaptive golf coaches providing instruction to a group of 20 adaptive (physically disabled) golfers using a wide array of adaptive golf equipment.

Attendees experienced an atmosphere of camaraderie and included McLaren Health Care physical therapy patients and participants identified by NAGA, USAGA, and The Disability Network.

Adaptive golf is a rising movement in the sport to continue to grow the game and provide people with physical disabilities the tools and training to enjoy the game of golf.

The Official Tournament Pro-Ams at Warwick Hills are an awesome funraiser/fundraiser with proceeds assisting various charities. This prestigious golf tournament pairs amateur foursomes with a PGA TOUR Champions professional in a best ball of the five-player team format. Ally hosts its own tournament within a tournament, The Ally Cup, which extends into a second day. They invite the amateurs to Shepherd’s Hollow, making it a 36-hole adventure.

Shepherd’s Hollow is an elite public course located near I-75 at the Dixie Highway / Waterford exit. For a majestic round of golf, visit this jewel cut out of the forests and rolling hills of Clarkston.

Thursday’s event, the Women of Influence Luncheon, featured a lineup of speakers who are paving the way for future generations of female leaders. This new addition to the Ally Challenge is a celebration of the power and accomplishments of women in Southeastern Michigan and beyond.

The Women of Influence Luncheon included facilitated networking roundtable discussions followed by remarks from event emcee NBC25 anchor Stephanie Parkinson and special guest Laurie Prochazka, Vice President of Marketing for McLaren.

Luncheon panelists included: Andrea Brimmer, Chief Marketing and Public Relations Officer, Ally Financial; Alex Baldwin, President, Korn Ferry Tour; Rhonda Walker, Anchor, Channel 4 News and Founder of the Rhonda Walker Foundation; and Alison White, Regional Marketing & Events Director, Saks Fifth Avenue.

Before the start of tournament competition in the 2022 The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren, on the first tee box at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club. The Opening Ceremony will feature ceremonial first tee shots from local youth from First Tee of Eastern Michigan. Representatives from Ally Financial and McLaren Health Care will address the crowd and introduce the ceremonial first tee shot participants. (Approximately 11:00 am)

The Concert @17 featuring Mark Farner is a new tournament event that will be held Friday evening, August 26, following the first round of tournament competition at the famed 17th hole at Warwick Hills. Farner is a Michigan native and a founding member of Grand Funk Railroad.

Patrons attending the tournament on Saturday, August 27, will experience this star-studded event at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club. The Celebrity Shootout is an exciting 4-hole team exhibition match that will benefit charity and take place following the last tournament pairing of the second round of competition at The Ally Challenge.

Starting on Hole No. 10, the celebrities will play holes 10, 11, 17, and 18. In 2022 this special competition will feature golf’s greatest champion Jack Nicklaus and Community Concert headliner Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Kane Brown, along with Michigan natives Detroit Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin; two-time Super Middleweight World Champion boxer Anthony Dirrell; U.S. Adaptive Open champion golfer Kim Moore; and ESPN analyst, 13-year NBA star and member of the University of Michigan (U of M) “Fab Five” Jalen Rose to create a powerhouse group of competitors that will compete in an exhibition match to benefit charity.

Concerned about walking the course? Seniors, guests with disabilities, or just tired. A full fleet of passenger carts is available, running shuttle service from the clubhouse to the popular entertainment festivities at the 17th hole.
