GUEST OPINION: Less than six months ago it was looking like many workplaces were starting to encourage employees back to the office full time, but this is now not going to be the case. Building upon the success of the company's Portégé X30L that debuted in 2020, the all-new Portégé X40L-K is a hyperlight 14-inch laptop and is among the first in a wave of new laptops from Dynabook to leverage the enhanced performance, efficiency and security offered by the combination of 12th Gen Intel Core P-Series 28W processors, LPDDR5 memory and Windows 11 Pro.

In addition to weighing just 1.05kg, the new device is just 15.9mm thin and has been engineered to meet MIL-STD-810H standard for both strength and durability. The Portégé X40L-K can be fitted with a 12th Gen Intel Core P-Series i5 or i7 processor with integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and up to 32GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory. The X40L-K also features a 14-inch Eyesafe 16:10 IPS display for low blue light with an 85-percent screen-to-lid ratio and a four-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system all powered by a large 65Wh battery.

When it comes to video meetings, Dynabook Online Meeting Assist uses AI to ensure faces are bright and visible, backgrounds blur and automatically keep a user's face centred in the frame. Meanwhile, 360-degree dual-array microphones enable voices to be picked up omnidirectionally so that users can easily move around their office or home workspace while still being heard.

The Intel® EvoTM based Portégé X40L-K is compact, powerful, durable, uniquely stylish and secure. While all impressive, none of these qualities sum up the magic of this laptop. You must hold it to really appreciate the incredible engineering and craftsmanship that went into making it the lightest and highest-performing 14-inch laptop in our history.

Portégé X30W 2-in-1

In addition to the all-new Portégé X40L-K, we have also refreshed our 13.3-inch Portégé X30W 2-in-1 convertible laptop. This device now features the new hybrid architecture found in 12th Gen Intel Core P-Series 28W processors, LPDDR5 memory, Wi-Fi 6E and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics.

The Portégé X30W-K 2-in-1 laptop can be used as a tablet or laptop and is designed for artists, designers, entrepreneurs and creative types. The Windows 11-powered 2-in-1 laptop also boasts a super-light, magnesium alloy chassis that weighs less than 1kg so that it can easily be slipped into a backpack and carried anywhere.

Tecra A40-K and Tecra A50-K

To further support hybrid businesses that want all the features and performance but are a bit more price-conscious, Dynabook has refreshed the Tecra line of business laptops with the latest Intel processors and Windows 11 Pro.

The new 14-inch Tecra A40-K is a performance-rich laptop that measures just 18.9mm thin and is well-suited for today's work-from-anywhere professionals. The updated device sports a 14-inch narrow-bezel display, webcam with privacy shutter, backlit keyboard and a large ClickPad though it can also be outfitted with an optional fingerprint reader.

The 15-inch Tecra A50-K meanwhile is designed with productivity in mind and features a 19.9mm thin chassis that houses a 15.6-inch thin-bezel display, a full-size backlit keyboard, a large ClickPad with an optional fingerprint reader, and a webcam with a privacy shutter. Its special numeric keyboard makes it ideal for people working in finance.

Dynabook's new Tecra laptops are also getting a major performance boost as they are configurable with the new hybrid architecture found in 12th Gen Intel Core P-Series i5 and i7 processors, optional Intel Iris Xe graphics and up to 64GB of memory.

When it comes to connectivity and ports, both the Tecra A40-K and Tecra A50-K feature Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt 4 as well as full-size HDMI, Gigabit LAN, 3.5mm audio jacks, USB-A ports and a microSD card reader.

Dynabook's new Tecra laptops also include AI tools to help increase both productivity and collaboration with Cortana-enabled dual mics providing a new AI noise reduction function while an HD camera with face authentication comes with its own AI-enhanced functionality. When combined with stereo speakers with DTS audio processing, the Tecra A40-K and Tecra A50-K are ideal for video conferencing. Both Tecra models also meet Microsoft's strict Secured-core PC requirements while Dynabook's proprietary BIOS provides another extensive security layer to mitigate BIOS-level security threats.
