TechStock launched!Meet TechStock, that is absolutely free high-quality photos ... from DailyWeb!Dailyweb »Tech» AudioI must admit that recently a large part of the equipment that I receive is audio equipment.No wonder, many of us cannot imagine life without music.For tests, I received another interesting device, which is the Lenco DIR -2000, i.e. internet WiFi radio with Bluetooth, FM and DAB + and Spotify Connect.I don't know if you know, but as many as 86% of people in our country declare that they listen to music regularly.Interestingly, out of these people, as many as 68% of respondents say that they most often listen to it on the radio (CBOŚ 2018 study).The obvious choice for such people will be the equipment that I take on the wallpaper - Lenco DIR-2000.The equipment will also be appreciated by many other people, but more on that in a moment.It all started thanks to the marriage of Fritz and Marie Laeng, who were already active in the electrical industry in 1925.We recognize the official start date of the company in 1946 and the commissioning of the factory in Burgdorf, Switzerland.The name of the company is a collection of the couple's family names proposed by Marie.Apparently, Marie was also the driving force behind this business, which was based on the production of turntable equipment (which was wildly popular at the time).The following years were a time of unflagging success and a series of great audio products praised for their quality and great technical service.What's more, the company aspired to become Hi-Fi products with its products, constantly striving to improve them.In the 1960s, this status was achieved.New branches of the company and a factory in Italy were also opened.Lenco with over 1,300 employees on board was praised for its talented staff, well-functioning management and efficient production.Unfortunately, the world was plunged into a fuel crisis shortly thereafter.The global crisis, which was caused by the fuel market, also affected Lenco.The company could no longer count on the growing audio market.It is not the only company that has been hit by financial problems.Marie Laeng, who gave the company energy and passion, passed away in 1974.Three years later, the company goes bankrupt, but customers are not left to themselves - Lenco Audio AG provides support - which secures warranty repairs.In 1978, Fritz Laeng dies.Lenco Audio AG is soon taken over by Horst Neugebauer KG, based in Lahr.Audio equipment is still produced under the Lenco brand, and new products are also introduced.In 1997, the company was revived thanks to the Dutch company STL Group based in Nuth.In 2015, Lenco is acquired by Commaxx International NV.Since then, the company has grown in strength, introduces devices to the market in new categories and begins distributing in many new countries.Lenco still produces turntables, has quite a lot of them on offer - in almost every price group.The cross-section of the offer is unique, Lenco produces equipment for undemanding people, but also aspiring to be an audiophile.It is praised for the price and great value for money.Lenco more than once appears in the rankings of the best equipment - such as the L85 model - recognized as a "genius, budget turntable" in the 2020 ranking prepared by the WHAT HI-FI editors.To this day, the company also enjoys a crowd of loyal fans who consider Lenco turntables cult.Their largest group, about 18,000 people, is concentrated around the Lenco Heaven forum - which is a treasure trove of knowledge for black disc lovers.The easiest way to define it is with the device as the manufacturer does.The tested equipment is therefore an internet radio with FM, DAB + and Bluetooth.In my opinion, this is quite an injustice, because this device offers more possibilities.Let's start with the fact that Lenco Concerto has a traditional FM tuner and this digital DAB +.In addition, we have the Frontier Nuvola catalog, which gives you access to over 50,000 internet radio stations from around the world (via Wi-Fi) and over 21,000 podcasts (soon you will also find our podcast in this catalog).If that's not enough for someone, there's also Spotify Connect to connect to your account.Lenco Concerto DIR -2000 has Bluetooth, so you can play music from your computer or phone.There was also a USB port to support external storage media.For cable lovers, Lenco has 3.5 mm AUX in and out jack ports and optical Toslink.The radio has a 3.2 inch color display.It has a power of 34 W and speakers in a 2.1 system.The equipment is delivered to the customer in a standard color cardboard box.A properly secured device rests in it.The set includes a set of instructions, a remote control with batteries, a power cable and an audio Jack cable.The cradles or feet of the device as well as the antenna for FM and DAB + radio are pre-installed.The performance of the accessory itself does not raise any objections and is similar to other competing products.As for the device itself, it is made of brushed aluminum, which is kept in black and silver colors.The front of the device is covered with a loudspeaker grille (this characteristic mesh) up to the middle of the upper wall.Next we deal with black, brushed aluminum.On the sides there are aluminum plates, which are also brushed and additionally have a milled edge.It looks quite nice.The back of the device is a metal panel with the necessary ports and a deep bass reflex.As already mentioned, the device cannot be faulted in terms of its performance.Even here, the screws are carefully selected to match the aesthetics of the whole.I have no experience with the products of this company.I was wrongly convinced that they belonged to the group of the less ambitious.The Lenco Concerto DIR-2000 is, however, quite nice and useful in reception.Out of the box, I appreciated the build quality.The equipment looks very interesting, although quite classic.It is simple to configure, does not require any additional applications or calibration.Lenco Concerto DIR-2000 is enough to connect to electricity and our Wi-Fi network to enjoy music.Although the device has a remote control, it can also be controlled via the front panel.It is so simple that you don't have to refer to the manual.My wife did not have to reach for it, as she quickly got to like this equipment.I appreciate it, because the device has a lot of possibilities to play sound - FM radio, DAB +, Spotify Connect, Internet Radios and Podcasts, and finally Bluetooth and cable connectivity.A lot - but it's easy to master!For the first few days, I appreciated the performance of the equipment each time.I am used to the fact that such equipment is much more expensive.The price of Lenco Concerto is around PLN 1299 in popular online stores.It does not seem like a high amount for such a universal device.The configuration itself is not problematic and is very simple.The device works quickly and despite many functions, its firmware did not cause any problems.You do not need any application to operate the Lenco Concerto.A remote control has been added to the device, which allows you to control all important functions.After turning on the device, the configuration is limited only to setting the Internet access point and searching for your favorite radio stations.The connection to the Internet and via Bluetooth is simplified to a minimum.The firmware of the device gives access to a lot of functions, and the manufacturer thought about the possibility of updating it.I noticed that it is incorrectly polonized in some places, but still intuitive, so it wasn't a problem for me.Lenco Concerto DIR -2000 uses the Frontier Nuvola platform to operate internet stations.It is worth emphasizing that this is a common element of many similar receivers.It gives not only access to over 50,000 internet stations and over 20,000 podcasts.Its advantages include the ability to create lists of favorite stations and podcasts and add new ones.I have used it before, so I could import my list of favorite stations to Lenco.Auditioning is the most difficult part of testing, I emphasize it in each of my reviews.I recently read that the most important role of a reviewer is to find a point of reference and present it to the reader.In practice, in many reviews you can read that A equipment is better than B and worse than C equipment.
