The Mackie Thump series is refreshed and expanded for 2022! Featuring app-enabled, powered, full-range cabinets and subwoofers, the newly introduced Thump XT range should find fans everywhere. We take a quick look at this new addition to Mackie’s popular lineup of portable, powered PA speakers…

If you’ve ever used or owned powered, portable PA speakers, then the chances are you’ve come across the Mackie Thump series. The Thump series sits above Mackie’s no-frills Thrash series and below the SRM series speakers. If you’re looking for a powered portable PA speaker that’s easy to use and offers good value for money, then the Thump series is a great place to look.

Importantly, the Thump series has just undergone a makeover, with some exciting upgrades and additions! We got a little taster of what was in store, last year, with the battery-powered Thump GO. Now, there’s a whole range to go along with it, from compact portable cabs to powered subwoofers.

You now have a choice of either Thump or Thump XT versions; both offer a built-in feedback eliminator and a music ducking mode. The new ThumpXT series gives you extra functionality when you use the Thump Connect 2 App. You’ll get access to venue-specific voicing modes and supplementary controls such as system EQ, levels, mutes, Voicing Modes, and more. Additionally, you can even link the speakers together with Bluetooth wireless streaming.

Other nice touches incorporate the provision for flying hardware, should you wish to use the speakers in an install environment. So far then, this is looking like a nicely designed set of revisions. What does the range look like, and how’s the pricing?

To simplify the lineup, you have a choice of either 12″ or 15″ loaded full range speakers, with XT versions of both. Additionally, there are matching 15″ and 18″ powered subwoofers designed to compliment the range.

In conclusion, then, the new Thump range should do well. They’re reasonably priced, offer a good feature set and based on past experience with Mackie active speakers, should sound good and take a punishing.

The new Mackie Thump series ships in August 2022; we’ll update this page with street pricing and availability as soon as it becomes available!

Also “thumped” up the price 😀 Great speakers nonetheless, loved playing my gear on these.
