CASTANEA — The Castanea United Methodist Church, located at 23 E. Brown St., is up for auction through Roan Real Estate.

The quaint single story framed, 9,682 square foot church was erected in 1895. Each of its windows are made out of beautiful leaded stained glass adorned with religious symbolism.

Outside of the building is a large parking lot with plenty of space for vehicles.

The building’s main portion comprises of a large carpeted foyer; a main sactuary with vaulted ceilings, an Allen Organ with speakers and 20 Oak pews; a child care room; a tiled bathroom and kitchen; and a community hall. Off of the church’s sanctuary is a large handicap accessible entrance to the building.

Around the back of the building is a wood deck overlooking Harvey’s Run that goes through the township.

The lower level of the church comprises of a tiled floor banquet room, two large handicap accessible men’s and women’s bathrooms; and two kitchens with cupboards and cabinets.

The church includes appliances for both kitchens and bathrooms, an array of lighting and furniture including chairs, shelves, tables and more, throughout the entire building.

The auction will be held on site at 2 p.m. on Feb. 26. The church will be sold at $20,000 or more. Cash or a cashier’s or certified check will need to be written out to Roan Real Estate in the amount of $5,000 as a required down payment.
