Xvive has announced the U6 Compact Wireless Mic System. The system, which consists of a shoe-mount receiver and a microphone transmitter, is designed to make it easy to record high-quality audio while filming with your DSLR or smartphone. The transmitter can be worn in various ways for increased versatility.

The U6 is Xvive’s take on the same concept as the successful Rode Wireless Go. It consists of a shoe-mount receiver that sits on top of your DLSR camera (but also works with smartphones) and a small transmitter with an integrated microphone. This kind of setup is especially popular with vloggers and content creators, as it lets you record wireless audio directly to your camera with a minimum of fuss.

Xvive says that the transmitter can be worn in four different ways. The set includes a clip for attaching it to clothing – either on the outside or on the inside. In addition to this, you have the option to use the included hook-and-loop fasteners to hide the transmitter under a jacket or shirt. The integrated microphone offers an omnidirectional polar pattern.

According to Xvive, the receiver offers dual True Diversity antennas to ensure a high level of signal stability. Moreover, the system uses the 2.4 GHz band and offers a choice of four channels. The audio resolution is 24 bit/48 kHz, with a frequency response of 80 Hz – 20 kHz and a dynamic range of 100 dB.

The receiver connects to your DLSR camera via its 1/8” TRS output. You can also use an adapter to connect it directly to your smartphone. According to Xvive, the battery takes about two hours to charge via USB and lasts about four hours in use.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly system for wireless voice recording wherever you go, the Xvive U6 definitely looks like it should be on your list.
